Getting Started

First-Day Quick Start

Use this page when you are new to Ledger and need a practical path through the app.

1. Sign In and Check Your Account

Open Ledger and sign in with the account provided by your team.

Then go to Settings and check:

  • Your account name.
  • Your role.
  • Whether your access is limited for company financial information.

If something looks wrong, ask an account admin before entering financial data.

2. Learn the Main Areas

Ledger has four main areas:

  • Projects: client projects and most day-to-day work.
  • Review: transactions that need assignment or cleanup.
  • Search: find items, transactions, and spaces across Ledger.
  • Settings: account preferences, presets, users, and admin tools.

Inventory is part of the system, but it is not always shown as a main tab. You will usually reach inventory from project workflows or create/move actions.

3. Open a Project

From Projects, open an active project. Inside a project, you will see:

  • Items: physical products for the project.
  • Transactions: purchases, returns, fees, expenses, and sales.
  • Spaces: rooms or locations where items are assigned.
  • Notes: project notes.
  • Finances: budgets, billing, and reports.

4. Practice the Common Flow

Most project work follows this pattern:

  1. Add or capture items.
  2. Create or link the transaction that explains the money movement.
  3. Assign items to spaces.
  4. Review budgets and billing.
  5. Create reports or invoices when needed.

5. Know Where to Look Things Up
